How can I migrate Pathway Studio Explore to another PC?

The migration procedure is comprised of two major stages – transferring the user data and transferring the license.

1.      Migrating the data

1.1.  Mammalian ResNet database

Option1 (recommended). Saving pathways and groups that you created in Pathway Studio to a data file in RNEF or GPP format is the easiest option and is recommended for most users. This data file can be later imported into a clean copy of ResNet Explore installed from the Pathway Studio Explore DVD.

To create a data file, select all the pathways that you want to transfer to another PC and pick either Selected Items or Selected Items to Desktop from the menu Export. For advanced export options, pick the option Selected Items to RNEF or Export wizard (Figure 1).

To add your pathways to the Pathway Studio Explore database on a new PC:

·         Use the menu Import > Pathways. Select the RNEF format (first in the list) and press Next.

·         Add data file(s) with your pathways from the old PC to the import list and press Next when finished.

·         Click on the three-dot button to create a subfolder in Projects that will store your pathways. Leave the advanced options unchanged. Press Next to initiate the data import.

Option 2 (advanced). It is also possible to transfer the entire ResNet Explore database to another PC using Detach database tool in SQL Server Management Studio.  This option requires strong IT skills and some SQL Server administration skills and therefore may not be suitable for most users. Please contact Ariadne Support for the migration instructions.

2. Transferring the license

In order to reuse your Pathway Studio Explore license key on a new PC you should deactivate it on the old PC. When you remove Pathway Studio Explore from the old PC choose Yes (default option) at the message shown in Figure 2.
