How Do I Upgrade from Pathway Studio Trial Version to Pathway Studio Full Version?
Description:
You have completed your limited time trial of Pathway Studio and have purchased a subscription “full” license. You would like to upgrade your copy of Pathway Studio to the full version, including the full ResNet mammalian database.
Resolution:
Note: The software installation of Pathway Studio and MedScan Reader are the same for the trial access as for the full licensed product (although the activation license key will be different). However, the Demo database must be replaced with the full ResNet database for mammalian database users. We recommend complete removal of the Demo database to avoid any confusion.
Upgrade to Pathway Studio full version can be completed by following the instructions below:
For Mammalian Database Customers
Step 1 (optional): Save Work Generated Using the Demo Mammalian Database
This step should be completed only if you wish to save the work you did using the trial version Demo database. Please note that the trial version Demo database includes only a small part of the complete ResNet Mammalian database. We strongly recommend that you redo your work using the full ResNet mammalian database. In this step, you will export previous work to a data file in RNEF or GPP format. To create a data file:
• Select one or more pathways/groups/projects, right-click, and then select “Export as RNEF…”
• Follow the on-screen prompts to save the file in *.gpp format to an accessible location.
Step 2: Deactivate the Trial License
• Deactivate the application: Click on Help > Activate Pathway Studio…
• In the “Activate/Deactivate the Application” window, click on Deactivate. Accept to send the information over the internet.
Step 3: Delete the ResNet Demo Database
• Navigate to the directory containing the ResNet mammalian demo database, Resnet7-Mammal-Demo.gpc. This file can typically be found in the My Documents\PathwayStudio7 Data directory.
• Right-click on the file and delete.
Step 4: Install Pathway Studio 7 using DVD
• Insert the Pathway Studio 7 installation disk and follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
• Once installation is successfully completed, activate Pathway Studio using the subscription license key provided to you.
• If the ResNet mammalian database is not automatically open, please follow the steps described here: http://www.ariadnegenomics.com/support/pathway-studio-7/search-for-answers/single-article-page/id/898/ to open the database.
Step 5 (optional): Migrate Previous Work
This step applies to users who have completed step 1 above.
• Open Pathway Studio 7 and click on Import > Pathways
• Select the RNEF format (first in the list) and press Next.
• Add data file(s) with your pathways (saved in step 1) to the import list and press Next when finished.
• Click on the three-dot button to create a subfolder in Projects that will store your pathways. Leave the advanced options unchanged. Press Next to initiate the data import.
For Plants Database Customers
Simply deactivate your trial license and reactivate using the subscription license. To deactivate:
• Open Pathway Studio 7, click on Help > Activate Pathway Studio…
• In the “Activate/Deactivate the Application” window, click on Deactivate. Accept to send the information over the internet.
• Delete the trial license and replace it with the subscription license.
• Click on Activate. Accept to send the information over the internet.
Note: For ResNet Plants database customers, no additional steps are required for the database.
