ResNet 6 database fails to open when Pathway Studio Desktop is installed from a network DVD drive
Description
When Pathway Studio 6, Desktop Edition, is installed from a network DVD or from a local/network folder with the installation DVD content, the following message is displayed when a user tries to access the Mammalian ResNet 6 database:
Failed to open database C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ariadne Genomics\ PathwayStudio6\Databases\resnet6.gpy
(the path to resnet6.gpy can be different on your PC)
In the Details, the message is
Error
Code = 80004005; WCode = 0000
Code meaning = Unspecified error
Source = Microsoft SQL Native Client
Description = Cannot open database "resnet6" requested by the login. The login failed.
This error occurs when the SQL Server is successfully installed but the ResNet 6 database could not be attached to the server.
Resolution
1) Navigate to the folder with the Pathway Studio 6 DVD content, and descend into the directory Applications\Databases\Resnet6-Mammal.
2) Copy all files from this directory into the database storage folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ariadne Genomics\ PathwayStudio6\Databases (Windows XP)
or
C:\ProgramData\Ariadne Genomics\PathwayStudio6\Databases (Windows Vista)
3) Double-click on the file copy_and_attach.bat in the database storage folder (or launch this file from the Windows command line). The Database Manager window with the progress bar should appear and, as the result, the ResNet 6 database file will be unpacked and attached to the SQL Server instance ARIADNE (10-20 minutes).
4) Once the database installation is completed, open Pathway Studio 6 and test if you can access the database via the menu Database > Open local > resnet6.gpy.
5) If you succeed with the test go back to the database storage folder (see step 2 above)and remove all files but resnet6.mdf, resnet6_log.ldf and resnet6.gpy. Otherwise, contact Ariadne Technical Support.
